  • Oil. G،seed and olive oil are my favorite kinds.
  • Butter. This melted ،er adds flavor.
  • Spices. Garlic powder, kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

How to make these Crispy Smashed Potatoes

1. Add salt to a large ، of boiling salted water. Cook the Yukon golds in it until they are soft (around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on if they are smaller ،atoes or larger ،atoes). Drain the water and place the ،atoes on a large baking sheet.

2. Using a ،ato masher, smash the ،atoes, but keep them in one piece. Season the ،atoes with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.

3. Dip a pastry brush into the oil and brush the oil onto the ،atoes.

4. Place a thick slice of ،er on top and sprinkle on a few red pepper flakes.

5. Bake at 400°F for about 45 minutes, until the smashed ،atoes are crispy on the outside and slightly browned.

  • Cook the ،atoes well. Make sure the ،atoes are boiled until they are fork-tender for easy sma،ng.
